Drew helped Sheila today mill lumber. Bobby was over there helping all week. Drew hurt his back and had to go to the RUSH ER. Dolly is doing great and fits in very well here AND she is housetrained!!! It is soooo hot our little AC gave up the ghost... so we changed out AC's... but it is still like an oven in our cabin. Here are a couple pics for everyone to enjoy from today.

Losses

We lost 2 baby bunnies from the heat earlier this week and one of the dogs killed a couple of our silver lace wynndot hens today. This makes me very sad.

GREAT SITE... send them your trash to recycle!

Check these folks out! GREAT IDEA!

MUTILATED DOG... can YOU HELP? BELLVILLE TX

GOT THIS MAKES ME SICK!!!

Please read info in chip-in link, donate if you can, and spread the word far and wide! Thank you.

http://jenniferchat.chipin.com/anikan-abused-mutilated-bait-dog

This is a tragic story of yet ANOTHER Pit Bull that was unfortunate enough to end up in the wrong hands. This poor boy who we have named Anikan, which means warrior, is a fighter and a survivor and his story will bring you to tears. Anikan has been living a true nightmare, hell on earth. He was found yesterday in a ditch by a kind woman who just happened to hear his screams and cries for help from a distance. She kept trying to locate where the moans where coming from, and found what I can only imagine was a horrific scene. There in that ditch was Anikan. He was covered in blood, emaciated and whaling in misery. He was fighting for someone to find him, someone to rescue him and stop the pain. She was his angel at that moment. She loaded Anikan into her car and drove him to the local Vet, Dr. Moore immediately and left him there in their care. Dr. Moore then provided Anikan some food and shortly thereafter called animal control to come get him and take him to the shelter. To my knowledge and others involved in this boys plight, no treatment to ease his pain and suffering was done. None at all. No antibiotics, no cleaning of his wounds. NOTHING!!!!!! He was then picked up by animal control and brought to the local shelter, kill shelter. Still, no medication, no wound care, no love- just a measley meal and thats all. Now, as I type this, poor sweet Anikan is in a dark, scary, loud, cold shelter hurting and waiting for his next angel to help him. I was contacted by Brandy Barnett who was contacted by a concerned woman who is willing to oversee Anikans care and get him to the vet so he can get the treatment he needs. Problem is, that she is very limited on funds, and we have nowhere for this poor baby to go after he is treated. All we know at this moment is he NEEDS medical care immediately, and he cant go back to that 'vet' or that shelter once we get him safely in our arms. That is just NOT an option.

A little more about Anikan and his story. We do not know who is responsible for his abuse, but at this point, regardless of who it is, his health and care is the priority. But, I will pray every night that this sicko is caught eventually and has to pay for what he has done to this precious soul. Anikan has had his ears BUTCHERED OFF. When he was found (and probably still at this moment) they were still covered in dry blood, raw, swollen and most definitely infected. His TESTICLES have been either butchered off as well or severely mutilated. Again, probably infected as well. All of his teeth have been filed down and he appears to have been stabbed in the neck, which is very infected, swollen and Im sure very painful. He has punctures and infected sores all over his head and body- too many to count. He has also been starved and is extremely emaciated. Basically all signs point to him being used as a BAIT DOG. He is very sweet even considering all the pain he is in, so my guess is that he was too NICE and wasn't a good fighter like they had hoped, so he then was no use to them. They used him as bait, and when the damage got so bad, they dumped him in a ditch like yesterdays garbage. How tragic for this poor boy. How heartbreaking.

We need to raise funds for his medical care which will include but not limited to treating the injuries, infections, meeds, possible surgeries for the mutilations, heartworm test, vaccinations, rabies and whatever else he may need after he is seen by the vet. We need to spread the word and hope that someone somewhere knows who did this. Maybe even raise funds to offer as a reward for information leading to an arrest if any is left after he is treated and cared for. We need to help Anikan. We need to be that next angel he is so desperately waiting on to save him and show him love. ♥

**** Donations can either be made to the vet, or by chipin. If you prefer to donate directly to the vet, the vet information for Anikan is: MAREK VET CLINIC, 763 West Main, Bellville, Texas, 77418. their phone number is (979)865-3664

Life is GOOD!

Nothing better than sitting out in your front yard, watching your goats playing side by side with your Pit Bull while the chickens are sitting in your lap eating their treats, and the kittens are playing in the garden. Life is really really good! And darnit... for once I didn't have the camera outside with me! GRRRR

It was funny as heck. Some of the chickens love the goat pen and no matter how often we take them out, they get right back in. Here are some pics of chickens roosting on Lucy's back!

The Girls Love Their new pen

We spent the whole morning and evening rebuilding the main rabbit pen. They have more space and the poop falls thru the floor, so they are not walking in it. They LOVE IT! Here are some pics.
